Head Coach Joel Geriak

Coach Geriak is entering his 14th year with the Wilton Warriors 13th as Head Coach. In his first season he help lead the Warriors to a 16-9 record and the first appearance in the FCIAC semi-finals in school history. In doing so Coach Geriak earned the 2012-2013 FCIAC Coach of the year, he also earned the FCIAC winter Coach of the Year in which he beat out all boys coaches in all winter sports. Coach Geriak now has 2 Coach of the year awards receiving his second award in the 2020-2021 season. The Warriors earned another FCIAC playoff berth in the 2013-2014 season marking the first time in program history that the Warriors earned back to back FCIAC berths, and the second time in program history that the Warriors won the FCIAC Eastern Division regular season title. Coach Geriak has followed up his first two seasons with 3 more successful seasons. Wilton is the only team in the FCIAC to make the conference playoffs the last five years, with this past season (20-7) being the best season since the Warriors joined the FCIAC in 1970-71. The Warriors reached the FCIAC Final for the first time in program history and reached the CIAC state semi-finals for the second time in program history. Two seasons ago the Warriors (21-5) reach the FCIAC final for the 2nd time in school history, and went to the CIAC state semi-finals losing to the number 1 team in the state by 2 in OT. The Warriors ended up ranked 10th in the final state poll. The Warriors have now reached the FCIAC playoffs 11 of the last 12 seasons including 7 semi-finals and 2 finals, including 2 FCIAC East titles. The Warriors have made the CIAC tournament the last 13 seasons. Coach Geriak has an overall record of (185-92) at Wilton High School. Coach Geriak will be entering his 25th season coaching in the FCIAC. His previous tenure was with the New Canaan Rams were he was the Head JV coach. He also was the interim Head Coach in 2006 going 7-3 during that period.
Coach Geriak has also coached in other sports during his career. He was the Head Sophomore and Head JV coach for the New Canaan Ram football team from 2002-2005. He was also a special teams coach on the Varsity. With his help the Rams won the CIAC Class MM State Championship in 2002. He was also the Head JV Baseball coach at New Canaan from 2003-2008 and was also the first base coach on the 2006 FCIAC Championship team. Most recently Coach Geriak has joined the New Canaan softball program as Varsity Assistant for 8 seasons and now is the Co-Head Coach for the past 6 seasons. He was the first base coach and outfielders coach for the 2013 FCIAC Championship team. Coach Geriak also joined the Wilton Varsity Football program for 2 seasons. He was the Offensive Coordinator for the 2019 season helping the Warriors make the CIAC playoffs for the first time since 1995.

Varsity Assistant: Derek Oliver
JV Head Coach: Derek Oliver
Coach Derek Oliver is entering his 11th year in the Wilton Warriors program. He has been in charge of developing our young players and getting them varsity ready. Coach Oliver has really helped our program stay competitive and has been a huge asset for our staff. Coach Oliver is a graduate of Brien McMahon High School. He was a 3 year starter at Brien McMahon where he lettered in basketball. He led his Senators to an impressive run in the state tournament and fell one game shy of playing for the state championship (97′). He played his college basketball at Curry College in Milton, MA, where he graduated with a degree in finance. He later received his masters degree from Western Governors University in comprehensive special education. He currently is a Special Education teacher at Brien McMahon High School. His coaching experience includes a wide range of camps and he coached in Weston as their 7th and 8th grade boys travel basketball coach. Coach Oliver is looking forward to the continued building of the Wilton Basketball Program.
Freshman and Varsity Assistant: Blake Billmeyer
Freshman Head Coach: Tysen Caneveri
Coach Tysen Caneveri is entering his 5th year in our program as the freshman coach and varsity assistant. Tysen played for Norwalk High School back in the 80’s and played on an FCIAC Championship team. He played under Ray Berry who is one of the best coaches to come through the FCIAC. Coach Caneveri is married and has 4 boys. Between his playing days and his sons he has been around basketball his entire life. He Graduated from UCONN with a business degree. He now owns his own signature landscaping business.
